What's New in EA SPORTS FC 27

If you played FC 26, you do not need a 4,000-word recap of licensed leagues. You need the systems that are new. This log is that list, with links into the long guides. FC 27 is still upcoming, so “new” means announced for this year, not patched after launch.

The Grounds (new mode)

A shared hub for up to 100 players, three districts (Parkside, Montclair, Zeiza), Kickabouts, small-sided, Clubs inside the world, mentors, Amps, Masteries. Current-gen only. Full page: The Grounds.

Gameplay

Competitive vs Authentic presets. Manual defending with less AI lunge. Dynamic two-phase corners. Curved attacking runs. Community-driven pitch notes rather than a silent animation pass. Career

Football Ultimate Team

FUT Gallery (Sets, grades, tokens, items still count after sales/SBCs). Holographic rarity. Bronze/Silver/Gold without Common/Rare. Squad-score SBCs and 1-click fill. Branching Evolutions. Campaign Hub. Hall of FUT. Full page: Ultimate Team.

Authenticity and licenses

EA’s September authenticity note: 21,000+ players, 800+ clubs and national teams, 140+ stadiums, 35+ leagues, 300+ partners. UEFA club competitions, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga, LALIGA EA SPORTS, and the listed women’s leagues (WSL, Liga F, Frauen-Bundesliga, NWSL, Arkema Première Ligue) in one box. Liga BBVA MX return was a 24 July trailer with all 18 first-division clubs. Stadium examples: Stade Louis II, reconstructed Emirates and MHPArena, Estadio Carlos Tartiere, Legia Warsaw’s municipal stadium, plus the three promoted Premier League grounds. Tottenham’s partner status was reported as dropped in community roundups — confirm in the license list EA ships, not in a tweet. Full page: licenses and Liga MX.

PC

Faster Steam launch (EA cited ~50% on some configs), modernised keyboard controls, VRAM indicator, Steam Friends via EA Connect, High/Ultra Performance presets including a 120 fps target, Enhanced Ultra Visuals off by default. Specs: system requirements.

Ratings and ICONs

Top 27 men and women on 17 August. Class of ’27 ICONs in late August. Those are content, not systems, but they change FUT and Career planning: ratings, women’s ratings, ICONs.

What is not new

Kick-Off still exists. Ultimate Team still sells points. Career still has a calendar. Last-gen still exists and still omits The Grounds. If a trailer made you think FC 27 is only an open world, read Getting Started again.

After launch this page becomes a patch log

Until 25 September 2026, there are no Title Update numbers to list. EA’s Closed Beta note already says early TUs will not make significant gameplay balance changes — bugs still can. When numbered notes exist, they go here first, then into the mode guides. The FUT Launch Update Deep Dive is still upcoming. Release date stays the calendar. First look stays the “how to judge” essay.
