Gallery Sets, cleaner SBCs, and a slower way to spend a season.
Football Ultimate Team remains the live-service half of EA SPORTS FC 27, but the FUT Deep Dive (2 August 2026) changed the homework. The new centre of gravity is FUT Gallery: a permanent record of Player Items that pass through your Club, even after you sell them or dump them into an SBC. You fill themed Sets, grade them, raise a Gallery Level, and spend Gallery Tokens. Packs still matter. They are no longer the only story.
This guide is for launch week planning. FC 27 is upcoming, so there is no live meta, no current Weekend League rewards, and no honest coin spreadsheet. Use the tier list for expected gold-card strength from the published ratings, and player ratings for the official Top 27. Come back after Title Update 1 for evolved prices.
FUT Gallery in practice
Most items from packs, the Transfer Market, Objectives, and SBCs can enter the Gallery. Loans do not. Evolution items count as the original base card. EA showed nine Categories and 76 Sets in the pre-launch build: Nations, Leagues, Clubs, Campaigns, rarities, and Custom.
Grading uses a Base Grade (sum of item scores — higher OVR and special cards score more) plus Bonus Grade from Tags (for example First Owner, Gold count, Campaign count). Completed Sets can be improved all season. Gallery Level milestones pay cosmetics, tokens, and — EA’s words — routes into Hall of FUT items and Holographic items.
Play the Gallery like a season pass you cannot fail by selling a card. The bronze you listed still fills the Premier League Set. That is the point.
Holographic items and simpler rarities
Holographic is a new rarity with a distinct card treatment (EA showed a darker, signed look) and the same stats as the regular item. The extra value is Gallery score and flex, not a hidden +3. Bronze / Silver / Gold lose the old Common vs Rare split; items are just Bronze, Silver, or Gold plus special campaigns.
SBCs: squad score and 1-click
Chemistry and position requirements are gone from SBCs. You hit a squad score instead of assembling 11 chemistry puzzles. 1-Click SBC auto-fills from the Club when the challenge allows it. This is the quality-of-life change that will matter on a Tuesday night more than any trailer shot.
Do not spend every duplicate on SBCs on day one if a Gallery Set still needs that league. The new tension is Gallery versus SBC fodder, not only “discard or list.”
Evolutions, Campaign Hub, Live Events
Evolutions gain branching Pathways — you choose a route rather than a single upgrade line. The Campaign Hub is meant to gather promos instead of scattering them across the menus. Single Player Live Events give a PVE lane so you are not forced into Champs to complete a season objective.
Hall of FUT is a new historical item class aimed at fan-favourite Ultimate Team cult cards (EA mentioned names like Adebayo Akinfenwa in the Ultimate Plus pick). Treat Hall of FUT as Gallery-gated at launch unless a later Pitch Note opens another source.
First-week FUT plan
- Play the Placement / early objectives, not 20 premium packs in a row.
- Open the Gallery and auto-complete one league Set you actually packed.
- Build a usable XI from the forwards, midfielders, and defenders pages — gold ratings, not promo guesses.
- Leave Evolution slots for a card you like, not the first 82 you see. Ultimate advertised an extra slot; Standard still has the mode.
- Learn defending in Kick-Off using controls before you queue Weekend League in week one.
