Who should run your first gold midfield before the live meta exists.
Midfield is where FC 27’s new defending and attacking awareness will either sing or collapse. A 91 striker with no 90 midfielder is a counter-attack waiting to be intercepted. This page ranks launch gold midfielders from official overalls. It is not a live Champs meta. S tier
Rodri (90 CDM) is the holding S even if his club badge is still in flux between the August reveal and later league lists. World Cup Golden Ball coverage sat behind that 90. In a year of manual defending, a CDM who can intercept without a slide is the card you actually feel.
Vitinha (90 CM) and Pedri (90 CM) are the on-ball S pair. PSG and Barcelona links make them easy to stand next to 90 attackers. Jude Bellingham (90 CAM) is the box-to-box S: 90 overall with published defensive numbers that most CAMs do not have.
Alexia Putellas (91 CM) is the highest overall midfielder in the game, men’s or women’s. If your squad allows her, she is S, not “women’s S.” Aitana Bonmatí (90 CM) is the other 90, even after the one-point drop.
A tier
Bruno Fernandes (89 CAM), Declan Rice (88 CDM), João Neves (88), Joshua Kimmich (88 CDM). Rice and Kimmich are the 88s who still start in Serious Squads because the role is bigger than the number. Patri Guijarro (88 CDM) and Yui Hasegawa (88 CDM) are the women’s holding A. Mariona (89 CM, Arsenal) is the WSL 89.
Bellingham can drop to A if you insist on a pure 10 and ignore his defending. Vitinha can drop to A if you need a destroyer. Roles matter more than this year than a 1 overall gap.
B tier
Messi at 89 CAM is B-to-A depending on whether you want a creator who does not track. Rose Lavelle 87, Debinha 87, Harder 87, Miedema 87 are Career and league-Set pieces. Do not confuse a beloved name with an S gold.
What Competitive gameplay does to midfield
Less AI tackling means your CM has to be in the lane. High/low stamina will show in Career more than in a 12-minute FUT match, but the same animation set is underneath. If you only sprint with a CAM, the new interception radius will take the ball off you. Practice in Kick-Off as controls describes.
FUT Gallery league Sets will force you to start 86–88 CMs you did not want. That is fine. A complete LALIGA midfield Set may pay more over a season than forcing Rodri on 3 chemistry. Ultimate Team is the system page; this is the name page.
